XISU hosts the Fifth International Forum on Tourism Education & Tourism Management

The Fifth International Forum on Tourism Education & Tourism Management was held at Xi’an International Studies University (XISU) on May 21, 2010, attracting over 70 participants from 34 tourism-related universities and colleges across China.


Professor Wang Lixia, dean of the School of Tourism & Research Institute of Human Geography of XISU, gave an opening speech. Chen Qingliang, deputy director of the Shaanxi Provincial Tourism Administration (SPTA), addressed the opening ceremony. Professor Liu Yuelian, vice president of XISU, delivered letters of appointment to six scholars engaged as visiting professors by XISU. Professor Wang Ying from XISU made a speech on student training and the development of the discipline of tourism.

Delegates exchanged views through speeches and seminars. The Forum also invited outstanding experts to give lectures on topics such as the relationship between cultural heritage tourism and environmental protection, China’s higher education in tourism, its innovation strategy, and marketing management of the tourist destinations.


Foreign delegates include Professor Graham Barrow, director of Heritage and Tourism International (UK), Professor Alastair Morrison from Purdue University (USA) and Professor Peter Stone, head of the School of Arts and Cultures of Newcastle University (UK).


The Forum was co-organized by Xi’an International Studies University, James Cook University (Australia) and China Express Commerce & Consultants Pte., Ltd. (Singapore).
